First Community Action Circle
Our first Community Action Circle took place this month in Neu Isenburg, address was shared on our instagram story, bringing together local residents, young people, and volunteers for an evening focused on participation, listening, and practical ideas for stronger community involvement.
The session opened with a short welcome from the organizing team, who introduced the purpose of the series: to create a regular space where people can discuss local concerns, meet others in the area, and identify realistic next steps that can be taken together. After a round of introductions, participants were invited to reflect on a simple question: What helps people feel connected to their neighborhood, and what makes participation easier or harder?
The session opened with a short welcome from the organizing team, who introduced the purpose of the series: to create a regular space where people can discuss local concerns, meet others in the area, and identify realistic next steps that can be taken together. After a round of introductions, participants were invited to reflect on a simple question: What helps people feel connected to their neighborhood, and what makes participation easier or harder?
The discussion was structured in two parts. In the first half, participants shared their experiences in a facilitated group conversation. Young people spoke about the need for more accessible opportunities to get involved locally, while other attendees highlighted the importance of clear communication, welcoming spaces, and activities that feel open to different age groups and backgrounds. In the second half, the group worked in smaller table discussions to identify local priorities and suggest simple actions that could be developed over the coming months.
Several practical ideas came out of the meeting. These included creating a shared contact list for future activities, improving how local opportunities are communicated, and organizing follow-up sessions that combine discussion with a small hands-on community action. The meeting closed with a short summary of the main points raised and an invitation to continue the conversation at the next monthly gathering.
While modest in size, the first session set a positive tone for the series. It showed that when people are given space to speak, listen, and plan together, even a single meeting can help strengthen relationships and create momentum for future local action.
