Emotional Intelligence in Artistic Leadership was an Erasmus+ youth exchange in Freudenstadt, Germany, from 13 to 21 November 2025, travel days included. Young people aged 18 and over from Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden and Türkiye stayed together at the DJH youth hostel in Freudenstadt.
Why emotional intelligence?
Emotional intelligence is one of the most important skills young people need to lead, to communicate well and to build inclusive communities. The World Economic Forum counts it among the top skills for the future, yet school rarely teaches it.
The exchange combined creative expression with non-formal learning: through art, theatre, role-play and group activities, participants explored how emotional intelligence can strengthen leadership, resilience and teamwork.
What the programme worked on
- Self-awareness and regulating emotions.
- Expressing emotions through artistic activities.
- Confidence in leadership and teamwork.
- Working together with peers from five countries.
- Practical tools for bringing emotional intelligence into youth work and daily life.
